City to be under security blanket during Eid celebration: RAB

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) alongside other law enforcement agencies will take a foolproof security measures in the city during the upcoming Eid vacation as 1.5-2.0 million households and financial organisations, trading houses and shopping malls will remain empty, reports UNB.

"A large number of city dwellers will leave Dhaka for their respective village homes to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with their near and dear ones. Our main aim is to protect the empty households and other organisations from any kind of incidence like burglary, stealing and looting," RAB Director General Benazir Ahmed said on Thursday.

He was talking to reporters after visiting Kamalapur Railway Station in the city.

The RAB chief said the elite force together with other law enforcers has been providing security to the homebound passengers to ensure their safe and comfortable journeys.

He claimed that theft, robbery, mugging and other petty crimes have come down significantly due to awareness of the city dwellers.

"RAB has strengthened its activities in coordination with other forces to ensure highest security for the city dwellers," he added.

The elite force will also bring the major Eidgahs across the country under surveillance to avert any unpleasant incident.
