The death toll in landslides

WE are saddened to learn that more than a hundred people were killed by landslides in the hilly districts, Chittagong, Banderban and Rangamati due to heavy downpour. Most of the people who died are women and children. Two military officers were killed and four other army personnel were injured during the rescue operation. People of those regions have been living beside the hills defying big risks. On the other hand, some land grabbers were cutting hills flouting law of the land posing serious threat to the people living beside the hills and leading to natural disasters. The people who are residing in the foot of the hills should be shifted to a safer places.
