Customs seize 4.6 kg gold at HSIA

Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) seized 40 gold bars, weighing 4.6 kg, from a flight of Emirates Airlines at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport early Wednesday.

Tipped off, a CIID team raided the aircraft after it landed at the airport from Dubai around 12 am and found the gold bullion, wrapped in black tape, in an abandoned condition on the backside of two seats, said CIID Director General Dr Moinul Khan, reports UNB.

No one was arrested in connection with the seizure of gold worth Tk 23.3 million, he said.
