Freight train veers off track in Gazipur

The five bogies of a goods-laden train were derailed at Pubail Rail Crossing in Dhaka’s Gazipur early Wednesday.

Railway police sources said five compartments, including the engine of the Dhaka-bound freight train, veered off the rail track around 5:15am, suspending the train communication of Dhaka with Sylhet and Chittagong for a while.

However, the communication on Dhaka-Sylhet and Dhaka-Chittagong routes was restored through an alternative rail track, the railway sources said, reports UNB.

Meanwhile, a salvage train has reached the spot and started rescue operation.
