ASEAN literary festival in Jakarta

FE Online Report
The fourth ASEAN Literary Festival (ALF) will take place in the old town of Jakarat, known as Jakarta’s Kota Tua.

The festival will start on August 3 and end on August 6 at the Indonesian capital, also marking the 50th anniversary of ASEAN.

Writers, artists and academicians from 10 ASEAN countries – Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam – will participate in the festival.

The theme of this year’s festival is ‘Beyond Imagination’, according to a news item of Jakarta Post.

Freedom of expression is the main issue that will be discussed at ALF 2017, tackling topics of radicalism, terrorism and the role of social media in every-day life.
