Noakhali boat capsize: 5 fishermen rescued, 1 missing

Five fishermen, who went missing as a fishing boat capsized in the Meghna River amid a storm on Sunday, were rescued from different areas early Monday.

Boat owner Wahab Member said five fishermen -- Horun, 24; Rubel, 21; Sufian, 23; Zahir, 25; and Alamgir 26 of Jahajmara union under the upazila -- were rescued around 12:30am while another fisherman Enayet, 18 remained missing.

Earlier on Sunday, six fishermen went missing as a fishing boat capsized in the Meghna River amid a storm while they were returning home.

As many as 15 fishermen went to the sea on Saturday from Kadirakhal area of Hatia upazila for fishing. Nine fishermen managed to swim to another fishing boat while six others went missing in this incident.
