Union Digital Centres to give online tax services

NBR, a2i sign MoU
FE Report

The Union Digital Centres across the country will provide some tax-related online services, including e-TIN registration, re-registration and BIN registration.

To this effect, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between National Board of Revenue (NBR) and Access to Information (a2i) Programme under Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Sunday.

NBR Chairman Md. Nojibur Rahman and Project Director of a2i Programme Kabir Bin Anwar signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides at a signing ceremony at PMO, a statement said.

According to it, a2i programme has already made agreements with many government agencies to provide various services to people. The agreement with NBR will help the tax-related service-takers to avail the online services.

"The taxpayers at grass-roots level will get required services faster and easier at an affordable cost," it further said.

The entrepreneurs of the digital centres will also get commission against the services they provide to the taxpayers.

The digital centres have been helping the country to achieve the SDGs. The centres have already provided 278 million services of 122 types including bank account opening, transactions, remittance, passport fee and online registration for migrant workers, the statement also said.

NBR has also been providing many of its services online, which helped to ensure transparency, higher revenue collection and enhance officials' skills, it added.
