UN General Assembly invites Atiur

President of the UN General Assembly, Peter Thomson, has invited Professor Dr. Atiur Rahman, a former governor of Bangladesh Bank and a former member of the Advisory Board of UNEP Inquiry on Sustainable Finance, to a three-day (12-14 June 2017) expert meeting on Sustainable Infrastructure in New York, according to a statement.

Dr. Rahman has accepted this invitation and is on his way to participate in this exclusive expert group meeting. Titled "Catalysing New Partnerships to Accelerate Financing of Sustainable Infrastructure" the retreat will be participated by a small number of government officials and development finance specialists including private investors, asset managers, and institutional investors.  

The retreat will seek to identify opportunities, challenges and steps to be taken to help unlock financing solutions for specific projects in sustainable infrastructure.

After attending this retreat, Dr. Rahman will give a special talk on "Financial Inclusion for Inclusive Growth: The Role of Mobile Financial Services in Bangladesh" at the Human Development Report Office of the UNDP.
