Pakistan misses economic growth target for fourth consecutive year

FE Online Report
The economy of Pakistan grew at the rate of 5.28 per cent on the current fiscal year (FY17) against the target of 5.7 per cent.

Nevertheless, it is the fastest pace of growth since FY07 when Gross Domestic Product (GDP) expanded by 6.8 per cent, according to a news report by Dawn.

At the same time, growth rate of Pakistan is going to miss the target or projected rate for the fourth consecutive year.

In the last fiscal year, the target was 5.5 per cent last year, but the growth rate remained 4.51 per cent.

The slower growth rate is attributed to underperformance by the industrial and services sectors.
