Youths showcase entrepreneurial skills, business plans
Yunus Centre organised the 583rd Social Business Design Lab on Wednesday in Dhaka to showcase entrepreneurial skills and business plans of a group of ‘Nobin Udyokta’ (new entrepreneurs).

The event was held at Grameen Bank Auditorium in Mirpur with nearly 150 participants from India, Japan, USA, Brazil, Singapore and Bangladesh taking part.

Nobel Laureate micro-credit pioneer Professor Muhammad Yunus chaired event.

Half-a-dozen young, agile and enthusiastic new entrepreneurs (Nobin Udyokta) presented their business plans at Wednesday’s Lab. The business plans included two tailoring shops, two poultry farms, one leather item producing shop and a fancy shop.

Mahi Ladies and Gents Tailors project was presented by Kalim Ullah. With 7 years of experience, Kalim dreams of expanding the business and creating employment opportunity for other youngsters his area.

A. H. Agro farm project was presented by Atiqur Rahman who has been doing a new business in poultry sector, where he is farming on turkey birds and creating a new source of fresh meat and egg for people. Attracting customers online using social media platforms is a significant feature of his business.

Dipjol Das presented his leather workshop at the design lab. He prepares tube-well washer from buffalo leather and sales it in wholesale market.

Mon Mohoni store was presented by Sumon Chakrabarty, a skilled craftsman of bamboo and paper-made fancy products which are used specially in marriage ceremonies, birthdays and puja festivals. He represents Hindu communities and their culture through his craftsmanships.

Fahim Tailoring was presented by Farjana Begum – an entreprising person. A skilled tailor, she creates designs of baby clothes and makes the products which have a good demand round the year, specially in festival times.

Lastly, Harounur Rashid presented his Harun Poultry Farm which is meeting the growing demand of chicken or fowl meat for people.

All the six entrepreneurs were children coming from Grameen Bank families, says a Yunus Centre release.
