Utility officials should come from top hierarchy: BIDA

FE Report

Utility officials responsible for providing one-stop service should promoted to the second topmost position in respective agencies, BIDA executive chairman Kazi M. Aminul Islam said Monday.

He also said the draft law on one-stop services would allow such officers to make quick decision on behalf of their respective office chiefs, which will make the services more effective.

His views came as he presided over a meeting of one-stop service secretariat wing under the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), a statement said.

BIDA director (Registration and Incentives Local Industry) Tauhidur Rahman Khan presented the draft law on one-stop service at the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Aminul Islam said the draft law should also allow utility officials to make quick decisions at the divisional and regional levels for the one-stop service.

"Once the one-stop service becomes fully effective, there will be a revolutionary change in investment scenario of the country, where the people will enjoy its full benefit," he said.

BIDA executive member Nabhash Chandra Mandal, secretary Ajit Kumar Paul, directors Sabina Yeasmin and Chowdhury Md. Hamid Al Mahbub attended the meeting, among others.
