Paramount Textile tops DSE turnover chart

Top 10 traded cos capture 28pc transaction
Paramount Textile Monday dominated the prime bourse's transaction chart while top ten traded companies captured nearly 28 per cent of the day's total turnover value.

The total transaction on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stood at Tk 5.38 billion on the day, which was 2.18 per cent lower than the previous day.

Paramount Textile, Shahjibazar Power, LankaBangla Finance, Doreen Power, Ratanpur Steel, National Feed Mills, United Power, Unique Hotel and Resorts, Bangladesh Finance and ONE Bank were the most-active shares in terms of value on the DSE.

Of them, share price of six companies advanced up to 3.81 per cent while four companies share price declined up to 3.0 per cent.

According to statistics available with the DSE, some 6.81 million Paramount Textile shares were traded, generating a turnover of nearly Tk 203 million, which was 3.77 per cent of the day's total transaction.

The textile maker's share price hovered between Tk 28.90 and Tk 30.30, before closing at Tk 30 on the day, registering an increase of 3.81 per cent over the previous day.

Paramount Textile, which was listed on the Dhaka bourse in November 2013, disbursed 10 per cent cash and 7.0 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2016.

The company has also reported (un-audited) earnings per share (EPS) of Tk 0.45 for January-March period of 2017 as against Tk 0.50 for the same quarter in the previous year.

In nine months for July, 2016-March, 2017, EPS was Tk 1.20 as against Tk 1.30 for July, 2015-March, 2016.

The company's paid-up capital is Tk 1.17 billion and authorised capital is Tk 2.0 billion, while the total number of securities is 117.31 million.

The sponsor-directors own 60.75 per cent stake in Paramount Textile, while institutional investors own 10.78 per cent, and general public 28.47 per cent as on April 30, 2017, the DSE data shows.

Shahjibazar Power featured a turnover worth nearly Tk 200 million, capturing 3.70 per cent of the day's total turnover value. The power generation company's share closed at Tk 141.80, losing 2.74 per cent over the previous day.

LankaBangla emerged as third with shares of Tk 199 million changing hands. It was 3.68 per cent of the total turnover. The company's share price fell 0.58 per cent to close at Tk 51.30 each.

Doreen Power notched the fourth spot, with shares of Tk 191 million changing hands, capturing 3.55 per cent of the day's total turnover value. The company's share price closed at Tk 130.10, shedding 2.03 per cent.

Ratanpur Steel featured a turnover of Tk 185 million which was 3.44 per cent of the day's total transaction. The steel maker's share price advanced 1.82 per cent to close at Tk 89.70.
