Govt to formalise mobile banking for sending remittance

FE Online Report
Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Sunday said the government of Bangladesh will formalise mobile banking channel for sending remittance.

The minister said this while briefing reporters after the National Economic Council meeting at the Planning Commission in Dhaka.

Currently two formal channels - banking and money exchange – allow Bangladeshi migrant workers and non-resident Bangladeshis to send money from overseas.

“Since money is being remitted through the mobile-based financial service Bkash, which is not included in the formal channel, govt will allow mobile banking for sending remittance”, the minister said.
