New Delhi has given the green signal to Dhaka to use state roads in Tripura and Mizoram for construction of Border Outposts (BOPs) by Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) in Chittagong Hills Tract (CHT) area.

Officials in the Union Home Ministry said the India would provide security and logistical support to the BGB in this regard, according to a report by The Sangai Express / The Sentinel.

The government has adopted a multipronged approach for security arrangements at borders to curb cross border smuggling and infiltration.

"The arrangements include deployment of border guarding forces, construction of border fence, construction of border roads, installation of floodlights, construction of BOPs, installation of hi-tech surveillance equipments, providing advanced weapons and specialized vehicles to security forces, among others," officials said.
