Illegal parking

PARKING on the road is illegal, but we see people parking their cars along the road and narrowing the space for traffic movement. Dhaka is a city of traffic jam and every day we are stuck for hours together in traffic jam. The traffic police are frequently seen to issue fines to the illegally parked vehicles. But unfortunately such police action does not improve the scenario. Most roads are used as undeclared parking places for vehicles which causes unending traffic gridlock in the city. Illegal parking, broken roads, desperate drivers, slow moving vehicles like rickshaws have made commuting in Dhaka a frustrating experience. Vehicles are also seen being parked on the footpaths which creates another hindrance for the pedestrians. Footpaths at many places are occupied by construction materials of builders. I urge upon the concerned authorities to look into the matter and make roads free from illegal parking for smooth and uninterrupted traffic movement. At the same time, footpaths should also be made free for the pedestrians.
