FE Online Report
At least 894 new motorcycles are pressed into services every day across the country creating traffic chaos.

Statistics available with the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (ARTA) showed that some 80,465 motor cycles were registered to ply in the roads during the first quarter of the current calendar year (2017).

Thus, on average, daily some 894 motorcycle have been registered.

While many people are opting for motor cycles to ease their daily commuting, a good number of youths and political activists are using the motor bikes to demonstrate their unruliness across the country.

Fiscal incentives to local manufacturers and assemblers have made the price of motor cycles cheaper for the last few years, enabling many to be an owner of the bike.

The BRTA statistic also showed that in the past year, total number of registered motorcycles was 0.33 million, a jump by 38 per cent over the previous year.

Thus, some 909 motorcycles hit the streets daily in last year.
