How to face the job interviews

Job interviews can be a nerve-wracking experience for the candidate and a time-consuming exercise for the hiring company. However, they play a crucial role in determining whether the company and candidate will make an effective match. Last week in career based radio programme 'Follow your dreams'  there was discussion about how to prepare for the job interview and how to answer some of the most common questions that are asked in any typical interview. M Murshed Haider, CEO of OptiMA HR Solutions, was present in the show as an expert of Human Resources (HR) and had a lively discussion with RJ Nazyr, the host of last week’s programme.

Career based radio programme titled 'Follow your dreams' is broadcast on Radio Shadhin 92.4 FM on every Thursday from 8:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Renowned corporate coach M Murshed Haider is behind the planning of this innovative show.  The second episode of the show was broadcast last week.

During the discussion, Murshed mentioned that research should always be the first step after accepting an interview. Gathering background information on employers is crucial to successful interview preparation. He pointed that an employer always expects the candidate to know about the company, and expects to know why the candidate is the best fit for the organisation. Knowing as much as possible about the company's past performance and future plans can also help the candidate better explain how s/he can add value to the company. Hence, doing prior research about the company is a must for every candidate.

Murshed also discussed how to answer some tricky questions like 'tell about your weaknesses', how to answer question relating to expected salary and so on. He mentioned that interviewers want to see the confidence of the candidate and his/her ability to handle the situations.

Each episode of the show also covers 'Book review' section. The  last episode introduced the book 'Ordinary to Extraordinary' written by Step Jones, a multi-millionaire himself. While the tag line of the book is 'I've succeeded in life and I am just like you', this book talks about the factors determining the success.

Each episode of this show also contains a quiz. Winner of the quiz in each episode receives autographed book 'Master Password' that has become a very popular career guide and a complete career solution since it was published in this year's Bangla Academy book fair.

This weekly radio show is presented by OptiMA HR Solutions, a fast-growing HR consultancy firm and is powered by Watermark MCL, one of the largest PR agencies in Bangladesh. Next episode of this programme is to be broadcast today (April 20) from 8:00 pm to 8:30 pm. It will cover the topic 'Career in Telecom Industry', says a press release.
