CHITTAGONG, April 18: Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) sent a revised proposal to LGRD ministry on Sunday for approval of its organogram of 13,455 personnel with addition of 50 new posts.

The new organogram has been prepared with the view of turning the port-city into a global city. Officials at CCC said a new city planning department has been included in the proposed set-up with its existing seven departments.

A senior CCC official said the proposal has been prepared in line with the concept of a modern city administration, considering implementation of various projects to transform Chittagong into a cosmopolitan city.

All heads of the departments concerned along with city planners and engineers have been consulted in preparing the organogram.

If the new organogram is approved, works like waste management, revenue earning, engineering and running administration will be streamlined, he further said.

As per the proposed organogram, the administrative department will have 926 personnel, revenue 637, accounts 124, education 1,238, health 1,970, waste management 5,305, engineering 2,075, and city planning department will have 195 personnel.

Following approval of the new set-up, CCC will have to pay Tk 4.00 billion per year as salary of its employees and officers. The volume of revenue from holding tax will also rise to Tk 14.00 billion a year.

Currently, CCC has a workforce of 7,479 personnel against the provision of 4,226 personnel as per the set-up approved in 1988.
