Sylhet sees over 3,550 tonnes of wheat output
SYLHET, Apr 18: Over 3,550 tonnes of wheat have been produced in Sylhet division. However, per hectare yield stands at 2.2 tonnes this season, DAE sources said.
The highest yield reportedly comes from Sunamganj, where the crop was cultivated on 588 hectares of land followed by 487 hectares in Habiganj and 442 hectares in Sylhet.
The lowest output comes from Moulvibazar where the cereal was cultivated on 22 hectares of land.
Wheat cultivation is on the rise in the region. Cultivators show more interest in farming the crop on more lands due to its high demand, sources added.
The DAE also set some demonstration plots in different areas of the division to insist the growers on wheat farming.
