Experts for addl provision in new companies act
Speakers at a workshop in the capital have called for inserting additional provision in the draft new Companies Act 2012 specifying financial reporting requirements and applicable standards for all companies.
Finance Division or the concerned ministry should issue a pronouncement prescribing Bangladesh Financial Reporting Standards (BFRS) that include the Bangladesh Accounting Standards (BAS) as the Financial Reporting Framework for all Government Business Entities, they said.
The calls were made at a workshop on ‘Roadmap to Strengthening Financial Reporting Framework for Public Sector Entities’ at a city hotel on Tuesday morning.
Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh Masud Ahmed attended the event as chief guest while Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury was present as special guest.
Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) and the World Bank jointly organised the workshop.
Burhanuddin Ahmed FCA presented keynote paper of the programme. President of ICAB Mr Adeeb Hossain Khan FCA also spoke on the occasion.
