UP member jailed for 14 years in arms case
A Chapainawabganj tribunal on Monday sentenced a Union Parishad member to 14 years' rigorous imprisonment for possessing illegal arms.
The convict is Angur, 35, son of Hena of Sundarpur village in Nayladanga union of Shibganj upazila and UP member of ward No 9 of the union, reports UNB.
According to the prosecution, police arrested Angur from Monkosha intersection along with a pistol, one magazine, and two bullets on September 25, 2014.
Later, a case was filed against Angur and then police submitted chargesheet against him on October 31 the same year.
After examining records and witnesses, additional district and sessions judge of Chapainawabganj Tribunal-2 Ziaur Rahman handed down the verdict.
