Risha murder case: Obayedul indicted in court
The trial for the Dhaka schoolgirl Suraiya Akter Risha murder case has started after the court indicted the lone suspect Obayedul Khan.
On Monday, an additional sessions judge's court framed the charges and fixed May 8 for witnesses' depositions.
Risha, a fourteen-old student of Dhaka's Willes Little Flower school, was brutally knifed on Aug 24 last year near a foot over bridge not far from her school at Kakrail.
She succumbed to her injuries three days later at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Obayedul, who worked in a tailor shop in an Elephant Road Mall in Dhaka, has been accused by Risha's family of ‘harassing’ the schoolgirl over the phone for several months.
Risha’s mother filed a case against him after the attack.
Obayedul was arrested two days later on Aug 31 from Sonaray Bazar in Nilphamari. He confessed to Risha’s murder in a deposition in September the same year.
Police pressed charges against him in November 2016, according to bdnews24.com.
