A trade delegation organised by EPB is likely to visit Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Latvia in June to explore the possibility and market potential for Bangladeshi products as well as to identify the areas for investment in joint venture and export of Bangladeshi goods in such countries.
Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Vice-Chairman Mahrufa Sultana disclosed this at a meeting with CIS-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CISBCCI).
The CISBCCI team was led by its Vice President & Director, Runner Group Mohammad Ali Deen.
The EPB chief however, suggested that proposed EPB delegation may also be tagged with SPIEF’17 event provided SPIEF authority allow a special Business Session on Bangladesh-Russia bilateral trade where Bangladesh can focus on its exportable items & export capabilities, said a statement.
During the one and half an hour long meeting Mr. Mohammad Ali Deen highlighted on the activities of Chamber and informed that the St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) would be held in St. Petersburg, Russia, on June 1-3, 2017 and CIS-BCCI, being South Asia regional partner, has been invited to attend.
He also informed that since 2015 CIS-BCCI attends this International Economic Forum and last year participated actively with a strong business delegation headed by Finance Minister Abul Maal A Muhith, MP and FBCCI President Abdul Matlub Ahmad, as deputy leader along with President of CIS-BCCI H.K. Kabir.
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), a signature event in the world of economics and business, is being held under the auspices of Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation participated by more than 10,000 participants each year, including CEOs and top executives of major Russian and international corporations, heads of state and governments, political leaders, global experts, representatives of federal and regional authorities, and official delegations from over 130 countries.
She called upon CIS-Bangladesh Chamber to liaise with SPIEF 17 authority on this issue while EPB shall engage Bangladesh mission in Moscow to pursue the matter. The meeting decided that the CIS-BCCI and EPB may jointly work to make a strong participation in SPIEF’17 along with a powerful business delegation. Other high officials of EPB and Secretary of the Chamber, Mustafa Mohiuddin were also present during the meeting.
