Gaibandha sees Tk 562.5m invested in savings tools
Savings certificates worth Tk 562.5 million were sold in Gaibandha so far this fiscal. The figure is higher by Tk 310 million than the target set for the district.
Assistant director (AD) of the district savings office Abu Bakar Siddique disclosed it in its monthly meeting at the deputy commissioner’s office on Sunday.
People feel secure by investing their hard-earned money in the government's savings schemes, the official added.
The schemes include five-year family savings certificates, five-year Bangladesh savings certificates, three-year profit-based savings certificates, Pensioner savings certificates and three-year post office savings certificates.
Gaibandha Deputy Commissioner M Abdus Samad presided over the meeting.
He urged the AD to conduct more savings drives at government, non-government and academic institutions to bring more investors under the schemes.
