Flooding, landslides kill 41 in Iran

At least 41 people were killed and another went 22 missing after heavy flooding and landslides hit the north-east of Iran, reports RT. 

The flooding was caused by a torrential downpour that began on Friday morning in four northeastern provinces – Kordestan, Zanjan, East Azerbaijan and West Azerbaijan. 

The counties of Azar-Shahr and Ajab-Sheer in East Azerbaijan were the worst affected. 

Emergency services, military and law enforcement have been dispatched to help those affected. 

So far, over 1,100 people from 33 towns and villages have received relief services and 133 have been placed in temporary shelters by the Iranian Red Crescent.
