Gazprom eyes more business in Bangladesh
Gazprom will construct two exploratory wells on the island of Bhola in Bangladesh
It signed a contract with Petrobangla recently.
A meeting between the head of Gazprom, Alexey Miller, and Foreign Affairs Minister of Bangladesh, Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali held recently in Moscow.
The participants of the meeting discussed possibilities of development of cooperation in the field of search, exploration and development of oil and gas.
In 2013, the Russian gas giant built 15 exploration and production wells at seven fields in Bangladesh.
The main Gazprom’s partner in Bangladesh is Petrobangla, the state corporation of oil, gas and mineral resources.
During the meeting Chairman Alexey Miller told Bangladesh Foreign Minister that they wanted to expand its presence in Bangladesh.
He urged Bangladesh to explore “other commercial ties with Gazprom not only in exploration but also in production and distribution, LNG supply and terminal construction, pipeline laying and much else,” according to a foreign ministry statement.
The foreign minister was visiting the headquarters of this large Russian company which is involved in extraction, production, transportation and sale of natural gas after his official bilateral talks in Moscow.
