FE Online Report
Bangladesh Road and Transport Authority (BRTA) Saturday announced that no public transport in Dhaka will be in the name of sitting service from Sunday (tomorrow).
BRTA General Secretary Khandaker Enayetullah confirmed the matter to journalists at a press briefing at BRTA’s Tejgaon office.
Enayetullah said the decision was taken at a meeting between BRTA and bus owners of Dhaka, reports several private television channels.
He said as per decisions taken at the meeting, a chart of bus fares will be posted on the buses and actions will be taken if is not followed.
Actions will be taken against those men who will be found sitting in revered seats for women and children, he added.
Enayet also said that a BRTA will form a team to supervise whether the decisions taken are followed or not.
Earlier, on April 4, transport owners announced that no public transport will operate in Dhaka city in the name of sitting service, gate-lock or special service from April 15.
But, the meeting on Saturday decided that the decision will be put into effect from Sunday.
