Maitree Express launches air-conditioned service

Maitree Express which operates between Dhaka and Kolkata has been made air-conditioned on Friday.

Railway Minister M Mujibul Haq inaugurated the special train service at cantonment railway station in the morning of Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bengali New Year, reports BSS.

At the inaugural programme, the railway minister termed 'the service' as a new year’s gift by Prime Minister.

"A comfortable air-conditioned train service has been launched for the travellers in this special day," he said. 

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardan Shringla, Railway Secretary M Feroz Salahuddin, Director General (DG) of Bangladesh Railway M Amzad Hossain, among others, were present at the inaugural programme.
