Lub-rref to set up tank terminal, jetty

Lub-rref (Bangladesh) Limited has taken an initiative to set up one hundred thousand metric ton capacity tank terminal along with a berth operating jetty at Juldamoaza across the Karnaphuli river in Chittagong. This facility will be one of the biggest of its kind in Bangladesh and it will be treated an independent storage terminal where customers can store and transship several types of petroleum oils & fuels, CDSO and chemicals.
In this context, a contract signing ceremony was held between Lub-rref (Bangladesh) Limited and Western Marine Services Limited (WMSL) recently at Radisson Blue Chittagong Bay View, Chittagong.
Eng. Ali Ahmed, fomer president of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Eng. Enamul Baqui, ex-managing director of Chittagong Dry Dock, Mr. Moniruzzaman, Chairman, NRB Equity Management Ltd. & Ex-Chairman, BASIC were present as a Special Guests. Captain Sohail Hasan-Chairman WMSL, Md. Sakhawat Hossain-Vice Chairman WMSL, Mr. Abu Md. Fazle Rashid, Managing Director WMSl, Mr. Mohammed Yousuf-Managing Director Lub-rref (Bangladesh) Ltd. Other high officials and distinguished guests were also present.
The tank terminal and jetty will be constructed as per API-650 code and State-Of-The-Art green and safe technology will be adopted in the operation. The jetty will be capable of berthing 10-15 thousand MT capacity Marine Vessels having both land & river connectivity for storage, loading & unloading of Petroleum, CDSO & chemical products.
Mohammed Yousuf, Managing Director of Lub-rref (Bangladesh) Limited said through this project utilisation of the scarce river side land will be optimised, fuel & oil storage capacity will be further enhanced and the tank terminal facility will help reduce the cost of working capital for those who are currently importing in small scale and paying instant duty and taxes.
He also solicited cooperation of all stakeholders, said a statement.
