LankaBangla leads DSE transaction chart for fourth day

LankaBangla Finance Limited on Thursday dominated the premier bourse's transaction chart for the fourth day in a row while Far Chemical Industries was the most-traded issue on the port city bourse.

LankBangla Finance, Paramount Textile, Tung Hai Knitting and Dyeing, IDLC Finance and Doreen Power Generations and Systems were the most active shares in terms of value on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).

According to the statistics available with the DSE, about 3.41 million shares of LankaBangla were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 214 million on the day. It was 3.60 per cent of the day's total turnover value.

The non-bank financial institution's (NBFI) share price hovered between Tk 62.10 and Tk 63.40 before closing at Tk 62.40 on the day, losing 0.16 per cent over the previous day.

Shareholders of the company recently approved 15 per cent cash and 15 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2016 at its 20th annual general meeting (AGM).

The company also reported consolidated earnings per share (EPS) of Tk 2.87, consolidated net asset value (NAV) per share of Tk 24.16 for the year ended on December 31, 2016 as against Tk 1.53 (restated) and Tk 22.63 (restated) for the same period of the previous year.

The NBFI which was listed with the Dhaka bourse in 2006, also disbursed 15 per cent cash and 15 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2015.

The company's paid-up capital is Tk 3.18 billion and authorised capital is Tk 10 billion while its total number of securities is 318.25 million. The company's total market cap stood at Tk 19.89 billion as on Thursday.

According to the DSE data, sponsor-directors own 34.63 per cent stake in LankaBangla while the institutional investors own 26.69 per cent, foreign investors 5.08 per cent and the general public 33.60 per cent as on March 31, 2017.

LankaBangla was closely followed by Paramount Textile with about 7.42 million shares worth Tk 211 million changing hands. The textile company's share closed at Tk 29.40 each - soaring 7.30 per cent. It was the second highest gainer of the day.

Tung Hai Knitting emerged as the third, with about 10.80 million shares of Tk 205 million changing hands. The company's share price advanced 3.74 per cent to close at Tk 10.80 each.

IDLC Finance notched the fourth spot with 2.43 million shares worth Tk 182 million changing hands. The company's share price closed at Tk 75 - thereby gaining 1.35 per cent.

Doreen Power was fifth on the DSE turnover list with 1.28 million shares worth Tk 157 million changing hands. The power generation company's share price advanced 0.66 per cent to close at Tk 121.50 each.

Besides, the five most traded shares in terms of value on the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) were Far Chemical Industries, Generation Next Fashions, Tung Hai Knitting and Dyeing, City Bank and Regent Textile Mills.

According to data available with the CSE, some 2.06 million shares of Far Chemical were traded - thereby generating a turnover of Tk 50 million. The company's share price closed at Tk 25.50 each, remaining unchanged over the previous day.

Generation Next Fashions notched the second spot with 3.34 million shares worth Tk 36 million changing hands. The company's share price closed at Tk 10.70 each - remaining unchanged over the previous day.

Tung Hai Knitting was third with 1.85 million shares of Tk 35 million changing hands. The company's share price advanced 4.32 per cent to close at Tk 19.30 each.

City Bank was the fourth with 492,778 shares worth Tk 20 million changing hands. The bank's share price closed at Tk 38.30 each - thereby losing 3.55 per cent.

Regent Textile was fifth on the CSE's transaction list with 589,397 shares of Tk 19 million changing hands. The company's share price closed at Tk 33.40 each - advancing 4.76 per cent over the previous day.
