Tangail MP Rana gets HC bail
The High Court (HC) on Thursday granted interim bail to Awami League (AL) lawmaker Amanur Rahman Khan Rana in freedom fighter (FF) Faruk Ahmed murder case, clearing the way for him to walk out of jail.
The HC bench of justices Miftah Uddin Choudhury and ANM Bashir Ullah came up with the order following the bail petition by the MP from Tangail-3 constituency.
The HC also issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain as to why permanent bail should not be granted to Rana.
Earlier, the court had denied him bail in the same case for four times on different reason.
Advocate Abdul Baset Majumder stood for accused the accused while Deputy Attorney General Sheikh AKM Moniruzzaman Kabir represented the state.
The bullet-hit body of Faruk Ahmed, a freedom fighter and senior AL leader, was found in Tangail town on January 18, 2013.
Faruk’s wife Nahar Ahmed filed a murder a case with Tangail Model Police Station.
Rana is a charge-sheeted accused in the case. - agencies
