BMDA installs 275 deep tubewells in Nilphamari
NILPHAMARI, Apr 12: Barind Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) has set up 275 deep tubewells in six upazilas of the district to provide irrigation in 6,600 hectares of land. A total of 15,000 farmers are now enjoying the facility.
BMDA, Nilphamari, sources said the beneficiary farmers pay Tk 400 to Tk 600 to irrigate one bigha Boro cropland. The cost varies according to the quality of the soil. If the soil is high in nature and sandy then the irrigation cost increases.
Besides, the farmers who do not under BMDA coverage have to count Tk 1,000 to Tk 1,200 to irrigate one bigha of Boro land.
