Dhaka bourse makes steady start

After two sessions of flat ending Dhaka bourse Tuesday made a steady start as major sectors such as banks went green ahead of corporate declarations.

The market started the session positively and the broad index, DSEX gained 40 points within first half an hour.

After losing some points the DSEX later rose to 5725 points at 11.30 am.

Most of the banks were in the gaining list, whereas the companies of fuel & power, engineering and financial institutions showed mixed performance in the early of the session.

Of 309 issues traded, 129 advanced, 134 declined and 46 were unchanged and the turnover stood at above Tk 4.73 billion.

AB Bank was in the top of turnover chart with a value of Tk 480 million followed by City Bank Tk 237 million, Islami Bank 217 million, IFIC Bank Tk 204 million and BRAC Bank Tk 203 million.

Among the banks, BRAC Bank witnessed highest rise of 4.18 per cent or Tk 3.2. The company’s Board of Directors has recommended 10 per cent cash dividend and 20 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2016.
