Plea to include ICSB secretarial standards in BSEC guidelines
A delegation of the newly-elected Council Members of Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) led by its president Mohammad Sanaullah FCS met Professor Dr. M. Khairul Hossain, Chairman and other high officials of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) at his office recently, said a statement.
While discussing on different activities of the Institute, the President of ICSB shared few issues relating to the development of the profession of Chartered/Company Secretaries in Bangladesh. Particularly, the ICSB President submitted four Secretarial Standards on Board Meeting, General Meeting, Minutes and Dividend published by the Council of ICSB.
The ICSB President further requested the BSEC Chairman to incorporate those Secretarial Standards in the Securities Law and Corporate Governance Guidelines.
In reply, the BSEC Chairman thanked the delegation and expressed his satisfaction on the activities of ICSB. He noted the points and assured that BSEC will try to provide necessary supports to address the issues in favour of ICSB to create more opportunities for the ICSB Members. The Chairman also informed that his office will take necessary initiatives for the development of the Chartered Secretary profession to ensure good governance in corporate sector of Bangladesh. The Chairman also congratulated the newly elected Council Members and expressed his hope that with the leadership of present council, the Institute will grow bigger and move forward.
The ICSB delegation members include Vice President Md. Selim Reza FCS, Treasurer Nazmul Karim FCS, Council Member Md. Shahid Farooqui FCS and Salim Ahmed FCS, Immediate Past Senior Vice President M. Naseemul Hye FCS and few other Senior Fellow Members of the Institute.
