Police recover explosives from Sitakunda militant hideout
Chittagong district police on Saturday recovered huge amount of explosives from the militant hideout at Sitakunda where five people, including a child, were killed on Thursday.
Police said a bomb disposal unit recovered 15 bombs and grenades, six drums of liquid hydrogen peroxide and jells, from the militant hideouts at Premtala area under Sitakunda upazila of the district.
The explosives were recovered in a raid led Special Branch ASP Reazaul Masud around 12 pm, reports BSS.
Sitakunda Circle ASP Rezwar Rahman said the militant hideout was earlier sealed off by the law enforcers yesterday for 24 hours. The law enforcers resumed searching inside the flat on Saturday.
Four suspected militants and a six-year old child were killed during a 19-hour drive by lawmen in the militant den at Sitakunda Upazila of the district.
Reazaul Masud said a total of 10 bombs and powerful grenades were diffused.
Explosives of three suicide vests were found in two backpacks near the dead bodies during the joint forces' operation on the militant hideout, he added.
