Five killed in Ctg special raid
Five people, including four suspected militants, were killed during a special operation by joint forces on a militants' den at Premtala in Chittagong's Sitakunda on Thursday morning, ending an overnight standoff. The deads also include a suspected female militant and a boy child.

Four bodies of suspected militants, including a woman, were recovered in the morning from a portion (flat) of a house that the law enforcers claimed to be a “Neo JMB” hideout and the body of the boy was found there in the evening, raising the death toll to five from the raid that started on Wednesday night.

Identities of the deceased could not be known.

Police said the suspected four militants were killed in sporadic gunfight with the joint forces, comprising Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Chittagong district police, who launched the special operation codenamed ‘Assault 16’ around 6:00am on Thursday. Some lawmen were also injured at that time.

Later, the law enforcers found the body of the six-year-old body lying inside a flat of the house used as the hideout of the terrorist outfit, police and witnesses said.

Twenty members of 7 families, who were trapped inside the building during the overnight raid, were taken to safety before the final assault began around 6 O'clock.

“Neo JMB”, as law enforcers call it, is an offshoot of the banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).

The “Neo JMB”, formed by leaders and operatives of mainstream JMB who did not accept the leadership of Saidur Rahman, follows the ideology of Islamic State (IS). – sources UNB, bdnews24.com and the Dhaka-based Ekattor TV.
