Taskforce penalises errant manpower recruiting agency
A taskforce of the expatriates' welfare ministry has fined a manpower recruiting agency Tk 50,000 for an attempt to send workers to a black-listed company in Iraq, said officials.
As per the section 35 of the 'Overseas Employment and Migration Act 2013, Techno-Foki (Bangladesh) Overseas holding recruiting license number 1283 has been penalised, they said.
The agency attempted to send 198 Bangladeshi workers to a black-listed company in Iraq, said Rabea Bosri, executive magistrate of the Vigilance Taskforce (VTF). She said the agency received a demand from the company for around 800 workers.
Ms Bosri, who is also a senior assistant secretary of the expatriates' welfare and overseas employment ministry, said the taskforce has so far punished 18 organisations from across the country due to their malpractices in the manpower export process.
"We want to get rid of such fraudulent activities from the sector," said the official, adding that through the sudden raids, the manpower recruiters and other related organisations will get a massage about strict actions to be taken by the ministry in cases of malpractices.
And, the jobseekers also will be aware about the dishonest recruiters, she added.
