Man held for 'murdering' mother and neighbour in Tangail

Police in Tangail have detained a youth who reportedly killed his mother and a neighbour on Monday.

The incident has been reported from Modhupur Upazila.

The victims are Minara Begum, 45 and Akbar Ali, 50.

Miraz Uddin, 27, attacked his mother Minara with a machete on Monday morning when she refused money to buy drugs. He is an addict, said Modhupur police OC Shafiqul Islam.

Miraz also hacked his neighbour Akbar when he came to rescue Minara, added the OC.

Locals handed Miraz to police following the attack.

Police were questioning Miraz's father and elder brother in this connection, said the OC.

The bodies have been sent to the Tangail Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
