HC verdict on Rajon murder Apr 11
The High Court has fixed Apr 11 to deliver its verdict on a lower court's judgment that gave death penalty to four accused in a 2015 case of murder of minor boy Samiul Islam Rajon, reports bdnews24.com.
The court fixed the date on Sunday after hearing death reference and appeals of the defendants. The four defendants, including a Saudi expatriate, Kamrul Islam, are charged with the murder of 13-year-old Rajon.
Rajon was beaten to death for alleged theft at Sylhet's Kumargaon on July 8, 2015. One accomplice of the murderers videotaped the incident and shared it on social media that triggered a furore.
The HC bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain and Justice Md Jahangir Hossain will decide on the death sentence awarded to the four on April 11.
The main accused in the case Kamrul Islam fled to Saudi Arabia two days after the death of Rajon. He was brought back with the help of other expatriates and put on trial.
Investigating Officer Suranjit Talukder submitted the charge sheet to the court naming 13 people on August 16 that year.
