Griezmann strike sees Atleti gain ground on Sevilla
Antoine Griezmann scored an 84th-minute winner to move Atletico Madrid closer to Sevilla in the standings.
The Frenchman showed once again why he is European football's most wanted man as his late strike was the difference between the two sides.
Griezmann netted his fourth goal in the last four matches with a diving header off a cross by Koke.
The stalemate was finally broken when the game looked to be all but a certain draw. Koke whipped a curled ball into the box and the winger leaped to beat Guillermo Ochoa and power a downward header into the Granada goal.
They cut third-placed Sevilla's advantage to just five points with Barcelona and Real Madrid still just within touching distance.
The top three teams automatically qualify for the Champions League, while the fourth-placed club has to go through a playoff.
'We know that all of our matches are like finals now,' Koke said. 'We had to win this one.'
Atletico will hope the win will allow them to take some momentum into the midweek Champions League clash against Bayer Leverkusen, who they beat 4-2 in the first leg.
The European clash will come before a crunch league match against Sevilla on Sunday.
Granada meanwhile, stayed in 18th and remain inside the relegation zone.
