School and college students showed their eagerness on higher studies and research in Science as Dhaka University hosted the BRAC Bank 8th Biochemistry Olympiad at Curzon Hall Saturday.
BRAC Bank and Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology of Dhaka University have been organising Biochemistry Olympiad annually since 2009.
More than 500 SSC/O level and HSC/A level students from Dhaka and other districts participated in the biggest festival of bioscience in the country. The day-long programme featured quiz examination, poster exhibition, popular lecture, interaction session and award ceremony.
Prof. A. A. M. S. Arefin Siddique, Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University, was present at the closing and award ceremony of the day-long Olympiad as the Chief Guest. Prof Emeritus Dr. A. K. Azad Chowdhury, Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacology, Dhaka University, was the Olympiad Speaker. The Chief Guest, Olympiad Speaker along with Mr. Abdul Kader Joaddar, Deputy Managing Director & CFO, BRAC Bank Limited, handed over awards to the winning students and institutions at award-giving ceremony.
Prof. Dr. M. Imdadul Hoque, Dean, Faculty of Biological Sciences, Prof. Dr. M. Sayedul Islam, Chairman, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Dhaka University, Mr. Shantanu Saha Roy, Member Secretary, 8th Biochemistry Olympiad, were present.
Students got an exciting experience as they saw innovation and research works in the field of life science. The festival will make science education more attractive and entertaining to the future generation, said a statement.
