An elderly woman, missing for three days, was found dead inside an elevator shaft at a hospital in Faridpur.

The half decomposed body of Surja Begum, 60, was found at Diabetic Association Medical College Hospital on Friday, reports bdnews24.com.

She is the wife of one Maonser Sheikh of Faridpur Sadar’s Barkhada village. Police said she went there to take care of a patient on Sunday.

“She went missing around 9pm Tuesday. Her relatives had filed a general diary with police. Locals got the smell coming from the body and called the police,” said Kotwali police SI Bipul Dey.

The body was found at the bottom of the shaft after the elevator was lifted, he said. The body was sent to Faridpur Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
