Police arrest seven drug traders; recover Phensidyl, liquor

Seven drug traders held in Dinajpur
Police arrested seven drug traders and 30 others accused and recovered contraband Phensidyl syrup and locally made liquor from 10 upazilas of Dinajpur district from Thursday night to Friday morning. 

Sources with the district police said they were picked up in special drives from different areas of the district, reports BSS.

During the raids, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested 15 people including seven drug traders with 1,600 liters of locally made liquor.

Phulbari police detained two accused, Khansama three, Biral two, Birganj four, Kaharole police detained two, Parbatipur three, Ghoraghat one, Hakimpur police three, Birampur police arrested two accused. 

Meanwhile, Birampur police recovered 200 bottles of contraband Phensidyl syrup from the upazila during the period. 

Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.

The arrested people were sent to jail this noon.
