Govt to declare Dec 1 as Freedom Fighter Day
Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq said on Thursday December 1, the first day of the month of victory, will be declared as the National Freedom Fighter Day , reports BSS.
He said the aim of the declaration is to spread the spirit of the Liberation War among the new generation.
The minister made the disclosure while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion organised by Muktijuddher Chetana Bastabayan Mancha at the National Press Club in the city.
On the first day of the month of victory, the minister paid tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and recalled the contribution of the then Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for her contribution to the Liberation War of Bangladesh.
He said pledge of the day should be building a happy and prosperous Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina through the implementation of Liberation War spirit.
Food Minister Quamrul Islam demanded cancellation of Ziaur Rahman's Bir Uttam gallantry title, saying he had rehabilitated the defeated forces of the Liberation War and he used to work for Pakistan in different ways during the Liberation War.
Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan said the Muktijuddher Chetana Bastabayan Mancha is working to eliminate the defeated forces of 1971.
He called for banishing politics of killing from the country forever.
The shipping minister also took part in a human chain in front of National Press Club, demanding declaration of December 1 as National Freedom Fighter Day.
