Around 200 households of Dhamoirhat UZ come under power coverage
NAOGAON, Dec 1: Around two hundred households of Dhamoirhat Upazila in the district have been brought under power coverage by Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB).
Whip of the Parliament Shahiduzzaman Sarkar, MP, inaugurated the electrification as the chief guest at a function yesterday.
Mr Sarkar said the present government is paying heed to the country's infrastructural development. Several projects are underway to build more power to accelerate the infrastructural development of the country.
He said the government has planned to produce 10 per cent of the country's total electricity by nuclear power plants by 2021. Setting up Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant in Pabna district is a part of the project.
Except this, due to the growing shortage of natural gases, government has taken an environment friendly imported coal-based 1200 megawatt project to generate 50 per cent of total electricity from coal at Mararbari under Maheshkhali Upazila in Cox's Bazar within 2030, Mr Sarkar added.
