International tourism fair begins in Chittagong
‘US-Bangla Airlines Chittagong Travel Mart 2016’, an international tourism fair, kicked off today (December 1, 2016) at the Peninsula Chittagong hotel in Chittagong.
Mahbubul Alam, President of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry, formally inaugurated the three-day fair this morning.
Speaking on the occasion Mahbubul Alam stressed the need for enhanced connectivity with Chittagong for faster development of tourism sector in the region.
Bangladesh Tourism Board CEO Akhtaruz Zaman Khan Kabir assured of his office’s full cooperation and assistance in developing tourism sector in the Chittagong region.
He called upon all the private airlines, especially the US-Bangla Airlines, to operate flights to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur from Chittagong.
The programme was also attended by the Bangladesh Monitor Editor Kazi Wahidul Alam, The Peninsula Chittagong Managing Director Mustafa Tahseen Arshad and US Bangla Airlines Sales and Marketing Director Gazi Salahuddin also attended the programme.
A total of 20 organisations, including airlines, tour operators, hotels, resorts, amusement parks and organizations providing tourism related services are showcasing their products and services in the fair.The fair, organised by the travel and tourism fortnightly The Bangladesh Monitor, will remain open for visitors from 10.30am to 8pm until December 3, 2016. There is no entry fee at the fair.
