Slovenia willing to import garment items
The government will take required measures for increasing the exports of the garment items to the central European country, commerce minister Tofail Ahmed said on Wednesday.
"We will take necessary initiative to increase exports of apparel items to Slovenia. There is a huge demand for the readymade garment goods in Slovenia," he said.
He also stressed the need for the exchange of business delegations between the two countries.
The commerce minister was talking to reporters after exchanging meeting with visiting state secretary of ministry of agriculture, forestry and food of Slovenia Tanja Strnisa at his secretariat office.
There are developed ports in Slovenia, and he said a proposal was made to allow its ports for exporting Bangladeshi goods to the European countries.
The European Union (EU) is an important market for Bangladeshi goods as a major portion of export items goes to the EU market, he also mentioned.
The Bangladesh apparel sector is doing well and there is an ample demand for Bangladeshi garment items in Slovenia and her country will take steps to increase imports, Ms Strnisa said.
The state secretary expressed satisfaction over the development of Bangladesh.
Senior Secretary of the commerce ministry Hedayetullah Al Mamoon was present at the meeting.
