Lafarge PSI attracts investors
Lafarge Surma Cement topped the volume chart with a value of Tk 213 million on DSE Wednesday riding on the news that Lafarge Umiam Mining Pvt. Limited (LUMPL), a Meghalaya-based subsidiary of Lafarge Surma Cement, got approval from the government of India to produce and transport 5.0 million tons of limestone per year.
"We are pleased to inform that Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India, by its letter dated November 28, 2016, uploaded at the website of MoEFCC on November 29, 2016, has approved LUMPL to produce and transport 5 million tons of limestone per year," according to a price sensitive information of DSE website.
The LUMPL, a company registered in Meghalaya, India, is the wholly owned subsidiary of Lafarge Surma Cement Limited.
The LUMPL owns 100 hectares limestone mine in Meghalaya, India, operates the mine and transports the limestone from Meghalaya to the cement plant of LSC at Chhatak, Sunamganj.
"The LUMPL had environmental clearance to produce and transport maximum 2 million tons of limestone per year."
