NOVOAIR flies to Kolkata today
Dhaka-Kathmandu, Dhaka-Guwahati flights soon, says NOVOAIR MD
Country's private carrier NOVOAIR is set to operate its maiden flight to Kolkata Thursday afternoon as part of its ongoing effort to expand wings to international arena, reports BSS.
Managing Director Mofizur Rahman on Wednesday morning said the passenger airliner is ready to start operation to their second international destination as it has been eyeing for more connectivity in the region.
Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Rashed Khan Menon is expected to inaugurate the flight at a ceremony at the Hazrat Shahjala International Airport (HSIA), he informed.
He said, "We've taken the latest move following the sustainable operation on all domestic routes of the country as well as one international destination."
Initially, four flights from Dhaka will be operated from Thursday while three more flights from Chittagong will start flying from December 14, he noted.
"Actually," he said, "we'll connect the people with Kolkata in all seven days a week."
About their quest for more international destinations, he said they have planned to launch the Dhaka-Kathmandu and Dhaka-Guwahati flights soon.
"We're now exploring commercial viability on the Dhaka-Kathmandu route following completion of necessary work while Dhaka-Guwahati flight would be started immediately after establishing Bangladesh Consulate in Guwahati," revealed Mofizur Rahman.
NOVOAIR's Head of Marketing and Sales Sohail Majid earlier said promotional fare for the Dhaka-Kolkata-Dhaka with return ticket will start from Tk 9,999 (including all taxes) with the flights scheduled on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
Flight departure from Dhaka will be at 2:25pm and arrival at Kolkata at 3:00pm (Local Time) while departure time from Kolkata will be at 4:00pm (Local Time) and arrival in Dhaka at 5:35pm, he added.
Sohail also said promotional fare for Chittagong-Kolkata-Chittagong with return ticket will start from Tk 11,555 (including all taxes) and a total of three flights will be operated on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
NOVOAIR has been operating flights on all domestic routes since January 2013 with six aircraft in its fleet. It started its international flight to Yangon on December 1, 2015.
