Information fair against corruption ends in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA, Nov 30: A two-day information fair against corruption ended at Independence Square of the district town today with the slogan 'Tatthyai Shakti, Janbo Janabo, Durniti Rukhbo'.
District administration and Sachetan Nagarik Committee (SNC) formed in the inspiration of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) jointly organised the fair to create social awareness among the people against corruption through different programmes.
The programmes included bringing out rally, holding discussion meeting, staging drama, art competitions to the students and face to face function with the people and prize distribution to the winners.
A concluding ceremony was also held in the afternoon with president of SNC here Jahurul Qaiyum in the chair.
Administrator of Zila Parishad Advocate Syed Shams-ul-Alam Hiru addressed the function as the chief guest and Sadar UNO Aliya Ferdous Jahan was present as the special guest.
The speakers in their speeches underscored the need for raising voice and building social movement against corruption to make the nation free from the curse and stigma of corruption.
In this context, collective efforts of all, wide-ranging much awareness and continual vigilance from all sectors of the society have become essential to fight corruption, they viewed.
Administrator Advocate Syed Shams-ul-Alam Hiru said large scale promotion of transparency and accountability in both public and private sectors should be the effective means of institutionalization of democracy which could resist the social curse.
A total of 40 stall were set up in the fair where different government and non government organizations displayed their service related leaflets and CD for the visitors through multimedia projectors.
Earlier, deputy commissioner M. Abdus Samad formally inaugurated the fair on Tuesday afternoon as the chief guest.
